i was leary to get this because of reviews on many websites. especially quite a few who said that the heat went out the back and up the wall.when i ordered i asked the rep on the phone about that and she said that was ridiculous, that the owner must have put it together wrong.well when i got mine it does the same thing...and the reason is,the metal ledge on the heater is only about 2 inches,leaving about a 7x15 inch open space(where the dome curves out)where heat is going up into the mantle instead of out the front of the fireplace.i have fixed mine by making a pattern of the open space and cutting me a sheet of thin metal in that pattern.you can slip it right in thru the back and it lays and fits right in.the company who made this could have done the same thing.maybe would have costed them a dollar more.(costed me 6.00)now the heat comes into the room.
